Renowned actress Amala Paul has found success at an early age, and was looking to fulfill her heart's desire for companionship when director Vijay became part of her life . The couple, who met on the sets of Tamil film Daiva Thirumagal, have been dating for nearly three years. Typifying their modest aspirations or the impending celebrations, their engagement ceremony was a simple affair, which took place at St Jude Church, Aluva, in Kerala in early June. The wedding, which took place on the 12th of June, was itself a traditional South Indian affair. On her big day, Amala looked ravishing, showing no signs for stress unlike many other brides, thanks to the well-planned arrangements made by her carefully selected team. Amala had donned a lovely bright red Kanjivaram sari, pairing it well with elegant diamond accessories, while Vijay looked dapper in a white dhoti and shirt. The private affair was attended only by close family and friends. Easing into the married life. they decided to throw a grand reception for all their colleagues and well-wishers at the Mayo Ramanathan Chettiar Hall.
The couple promoted their mutual belief in higher good by sincerely requesting all their near and dear ones to refrain from bringing gifts, an instead, asked them to donate to the Ability foundation.
At t e reception, the venue looked beautiful with meticulous arrangements made for lighting and the drapes that adorned the stairway and entrance.
The stage created the perfect magic for the evening, decked entirely in white and red. Festooned with white flowers and hanging white crystals, the setting itself looked like a scene from a fairy tale!
Security arrangements ensured that their fraternity friends met and greeted the couple without much delay or commotion. The evening saw a long list of celebrities who walked in to greet the newlywed couple. Veterans like K Balachandar, Vairamuthu, Gangai Amaran, Senthil and Sivakumar were amongst others who blessed the couple. A repertoire of young talented actors like Jeeva, Karthi, Vijay, G V Prakash, Suchitra, Siddharth, Vijay Yesudas, Shaam, Lakshmi Rai and Janani Iyer were also in attendance. Amala glowed in a flowing golden shimmer dress, designed by master couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee. As a contrast, she accessorized with minimal jewellery and sported a sideswept hairdo. The groom emanated an aura of refinement in a classic black bandhgala.
Another highlight of the evening was the lilting fusion music by Rajhesh Vaidhya on the veena and Navin Iyer on flute. They enthralled the crowd by playing a good mix of songs that ranged from yesteryear hits to recent songs from the bride's and groom's movies.
The food was predominantly South Indian and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the guests. Served traditionally on plantain leaves, the highlights included pal kozhakattai, little cutlets, sevai, fried rice and sambhar rice among other delicacies. On the whole, the star-studded evening was something every guest who attended the wonderful wedding would cherish.
