Actress Navya Nair Exclusive Interview
It was a spectacle on stage. Leaping dancers, dazzling lights in criss-crosses and instrumentalists with a variety of instruments in the background , mollywood's most favourite actress Navya Nair herself whirling like a dervish. Mythology met a new genre of modernity at debut performance of Navya Nair's SHIVOHAM at Thrikkakara temple, Ernakulam. The jam packed crowd which saw the presence of Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, who inaugurated the function and Assistant General Dandapani , the chief guest of the event who was there with his wife were all in awe of the performance.
Though it was acting that brought fame to Navya, dance remains her biggest passion. But, some people excel in all the fields they embark on. If her fine tuned acting and State level awards made you think she is first an actor, wait and read out the list of accolades she has won for her contribution to the art of dance. Only then you will know her passion for dance. Navyas dance teacher was once quoted saying: ' If she weren't an actress, she would have been one of the greatest dancers of the country'. Though she took a break from full time aeting career post-marriage as she was busy with her five year old cutie Sai Krishna, Navya is back on stage as a tribute to all those people including her family who encouraged her to study dance and teachers who taught her dance. After successfully completing two more stages at Palakkad and Chennai , Navya settled in Mumbai, found some time from her busy schedule to share the excitement of fulfilling her long cherished dream with keragramam blog

FILM , FASHION 8: LIFE STYLE
Navya talks about the various changes in her life related to
Film, Fashion and Life style...
CHANGE : In the attitude towards Fashion
Before entering films, I was least bothered about Fashion or keeping up with trends. Even after entering films my attitude towards Fashion was the same. Sai, who used to be my designer, designed outfits for me as per requirements. I wasn't even conscious of wearing matching accessories. I don't know why but my effort was zero in following trends and styles. Now everything has fallen in place. I have started to become a little more conscious because I am staying in Mumbai, the place where Fashion stands out the most. You can see even the children who come to play in the nearby park well dressed and trendy. A girl child who wears denim blue shorts would team it up with a neon orange t shirt and neon green shrugs. Even the shoes and head bands will be matching in colour. Here, you can't see any women without lipstick. A woman without lipstick is like a woman without dress. But the situation is different in our state where people stare at you if you wear lipstick. Even before people in our state started to use bright coloured lipstick it was common among all type of ladies in Mumbai. Pe0ple use all type of bright shades such as bright reds, neon reds, neon pinks etc. Newspapers also provide you with all kinds of Fashion news and celebrity styles. Living in a Fashion conscious environment has largely influenced my Fashion sense.
To an extent I am updated about fashion but I don't go for a dress because its in trend. Instead, my priority goes for that which suits me better. Modern outfits suit me muhc better now than it used to be before. Fashion changes with seasons but they do not change completely. They only come in a different name with some modifications. Pallazos , before known by the name parallel bottom. are a trend now. Long salwars are also back in 'Fashion.
Trends you admire: Now carrying two bags are a fashion. The trend started in Hollywood and is slowly catching up in Bollywood. People carry two bags, one small and one heavy bag at the same time in different styles.
Trends you cannot stand: Pairing your outfit and accessories with a single colour is a trend that I cannot stand. Instead I love to mix n match.
Sense of style:
Even though I dress up a little modern my dressing sense is always aesthetic. My favourite outfit is Set mundu. But I don't wear a Saree to an airport. My dressing changes considering the time and situation. Hasthakala in Mumbai is one of my favourite shops. I don't have a single name to point out as my favourite designer. Instead I go for what I like. I am not a brand loyal person. I use all brands that make me comfortable and lit me perfectly. To the contrary my husband is a very brand loyal person. He uses the same perfume all the time but for me I keep on changing fragrance
In attitude, lifestyle and outlook towards films
In my life, I give prominence to my character than anything else. How much ever beautiful a person is, there is no point in their beauty if they don't have a good character. After my marriage there were some positive changes brought into my character. I acquired much patience and perseverance than before since I had to hear and agree with some other person now. After having kids, you need higher amount of patience to hear all the stories your kids have to share; some of them may be utter foolishness. Their doubts may be pointless , but we have to give away the answer .If you need to co-ordinate a team with lot of people you should be very patient. You meet different kinds of people. When you go to location, you meet different people but you don't have to tackle any situation over there. You need not worry about anything and people treat you like a queen. Being a woman who assumes various roles, here you are the care taker of everyone. You have a lot of responsibilities including the one to your audience who sit in front of you. So you need to amass a large amount of patience while handling all such responsibilities.
Celebrating the month
Usually we don't really celebrate Christmas as I will be having shows during that time. In Mumbai there will be New year parties and we celebrate Christmas and New year by attending those parties . Even though red and white are the colors of Christmas I eventually end up wearing black, which is my favourite colour if the party does not insist a particular dress code. This year I will be celebrating the festival of Christmas with a performance of my new venture SHIVOHAM. I wish Fashion zone readers a Very Happy New year and Merry Christmas. Life is too short, so celebrate any occasion to the fullest. Do things that give you happiness. Enjoy every moment of your life without hurting anyone.
Fitness secret:
People say that I am in better shape now than I used to be.
Workouts, Yoga and dance keep me Ht. There is no shortcut to Fitness other than hard work.
Work-life balance:
I plan everything in advance for the next day, the previous night itself. My day Starts at six in the morning. I have fixed time schedule and try to follow it. We can live without a proper planning but you might fail to trace what all things you missed in your life.
Films :
Now I am at a stage where I will act only if something excites the actor in me. I would rather wait for a good role than a bad selection. I would also like to work behind the camera someday.
