Adding ghee to the fire if you are a known actress of the film and serial industry,looked up on by so many people o you can never escape from all the above hungamas. But, the story twists the plot,it the case is with Shalin Zoya. �I do regret things,by never taking them into my nerves.� you don�t have a time machine to revert things,better take them as your own positive criticism upon self, so that you will not have to want that time machine again in future� ,that�s Shalin�s policy. The waiting game has turned the tide in favor of her.The long term

�I have just completed my plus two this year l don� time any prior connection to film either. What the industry has taught me is that you survive with your skills,not contacts. My experiences at Kalolsavams, dances and other co curricular activities have surely scratched themselves into me, helping me to put out my best into the screen� .Mono act was performed to match up with the requirements of state youth festivals. But when later on they started showing their colour in my acting career and expressions, she purposefully wiped themoff her hands. Dance, on the other hand, grew out together passion, rooted from her dance teacher mother�s blood. Though now the eminence of her classical and charisma of her western dance 
performances are limited to award nights the fire with in haven�t still 

One thing I want to go back to past and say myself: Eat less, you are getting fat. 
Muslim female faces are hard to find, in acting industry also. Getting into the buzz world, right from avery little age, that too when from an orthodox locate like Malappuram, isn�t quite possible if you don�t have complete family support. N ever brought up in a blindly religious manner, Shalin relays upon God, sure, but not in a way that can harm her rational senses. The fear and concept is still alive deep inside her mind, which keeps on making her utter �lnsha Allah� (if God graces) at occasions. Even when hailing from a known Muslim family of 
North Kerala, she finds herself fortunate to have a forward thinking family.�Having an art loving mother and daughter loving father-when rightly mixed with such an amazing family gave me all strength and hope. � Her cute fish-tailed eyes open wide, when she talks about her mother, and giggles remarking �Mom has got even better fashion sense than me, that l keep on borrowing clothes from mom�s cupboard.� The downside of casting couch syndrome, inbeing an actress affected Shalin also. Shalin asserts that she had rejected some very good roles just to avoid being type casted again and again into those same sister roles. Some of those roles have even turned out to be great life gives for the one who did it, though. �Some gives me an arrogant and self centered face for that. But my belief is in doing roles that can facilitate a place in my viewers� heart I can�t stand in front of the camera, smiling near the hero, because 1 am his sister! Still, all the sister roles I have done have their own uniqueness and difference from the rest. Whether of Vishudhan, Mallu Singh, or Elsatnma Enna Aankutty. But further, I want to do only films that can place me among my audience the one that helps in retaining my character when they remember that movie later. I am looking for a career verve in film industry, apart from just doing a handful of movies, and then disappearing into the void.� As some one who grew up in films, doing seven as child artist, and winning best child artist award for her performance 1n Elsamma Enna Aankutty, Shalin is not comfortable with the my th of filmy people having a much over anticipated life than the normal. �It�s an ordinary man who becomes part of the industry when he associates with any activity in a film. There is a little difference brought to their lives, except that once you do a film, you may be not be knowing everyone who knows you! They will identify you, but unfortunately, you will not. They may even talk as if you guys are known for long. I had some great fans, when I was doing anchoring of a kids live show in Television. They used to send me gifts and chocolates occasionally.� Anchoring is never seen as her cup of cake, though she was and is well remarked for her energy and skill to hold the public. 

Fan Moment: When a mother, who loved my character as a Russian child in a television serial gave her child my charactername-Aloka. 
Accepting challenging and different roles is what Shalin always looks forward to. �My eyes are always wandering for more challenging and poles-apart roles. I wanted to do as a blind, when I did as a Russian child. Then I looked out for a negative role. God provided me with that too. Deepa Rani was like a game changer for me. Beyond the glamour of stardom, I want to do more roles like that, exploring the hills and pits of the floor. Though a negative role, I didn�t look away when it came. The feel of investigating new corners of ability within yourself is actually awesome. But when Deepa Rani was done, I felt for a comedy role. That was when Mallu Singh�s much appreciated role happened for me. Now that I know my abilities, positives and negatives as if in a mirror, I am done with insignificant roles. My courage has flourished and I can�t bar myself behind the jail of cast syndrome, or flashyimages�, Shalin makes a poker face. 

Three places to visit in life time: Spain, Paris, Georgia 

The trend of jumping into Tamil movies is not what Shalin is behind. Her belief is in doing justice to her roles, and placing herself in viewer minds through that way. Not becoming popular, without solid stuffs to remember about her.� Even when I was doing television serials, I Started gettig offers from Tamil. But more than just some excitement, w hat I looked for was real substance 1n it. That made me reject most of them. Rajamantri happened v cry fast. I have always wished to do some lead roles and the ball is now in my court. I hope this is really going to be good feast for all. Many anticipated so many stories for me not getting into Tollywood. This is my answer and gift for all of them. People should realize that if I have rejected characters, that�s not because I have an ugly face of stardom. It�s only because all I care is about my life in film industry. �

Within these years, 21 films and still counting. But the most special one for heris SaiKumar. She remembers herself acting as the granddaughter of the veteran actor, in film Purappadu. �We used to share our views , discuss about dramas, films and much more. I remember having long conversations with him after shoots. Mohanlal is another man who has inspired me a lot. His views, philosophy, concepts about life, everything have always touched my soul. If you ask about my inspiration in acting, there are plenty of them.�

To mark her name on the director�s cap, even with the first attempt is surely a great achievement. Named as a �hope-of-future� by eminent directors on field, she feels bounced. �I don�t know exactly when the thought of direction hit my nerves. Maybe because I have seen directors around from my childhood itself,I was always fascinated by the idea of directing a film. When wind flew this way, I gathered my minions and set off to give it a chance. Now that I have discovered Miss. Director Shalin inside me, I am much confident about this and I wish to take this along to the future.�

Experienced much with the serials and movies, Shalin finds movies to be captivating, but serials -more popular Everything is acting, though the medium is different. �Challenges are always there. But for me, serial have presented much more variety, than films.The wide response and popularity you get through serial  these days stand out. People will identify you wit the character and name of serial, but may not be remembering that you ever did a movie. Also, for mo: filmy people, film is a serious affair, which may not b same with serial artists. Still, films are what I prefer more. Because, it is a time bound affair. The latter may take years to complete, but films are shorter. It cannot affect your studies. You can do as if you are on a vacation.� 

Define your personal style:simple,Classy, Elegant 

Shalin is always spotted more i Sari at public events, than in churidars or casuals. "I� t�s because my mother likes to see me in Sari more. I have heard people remarking good on my sari looks. That gives me more confidence. It�s not that I won�t wear anything else. Something else that I wear only because mom insists is ear rings. I am not at all a jewel crazy little girl. My fashion sense is changing to the route of �least ornaments possible�. My rings on fingers and nose are stable there. Apart from them, I may even carry a pair of casuals, shades, a shawl, chappals, charger, mobile and purse on a trip. Nothing more nothing less. I believe in light-weight strategy� , that usual jingling giggles strikes again.

�I don�t believe in make up too. Or, maybe I am too lazy to struggle to show things as more than what they are. 
Spaced out from the fact that I can�t avoid them at shots, I don�t usually go for much make-up. Even if I do, that will be only a little lip stick.� The same situation is there for skin and body care also.� Taking damn care of my skin and beauty is not my way. It doesn�t mean that] never takes care. I do. But within the limits. Similarly, in case of fooding also. I loves food. I eat a lot. Every night I pledges to control my diet and to take weight controlling measures from the next day. And next day, the same repeats. My ndolence to go for gym sessions have always been criticized by my friends.� I Ier long hair is always eye-catchy. She has a very good collection of books at her place, a pretty big one. �When I am out for a purchase, which happens rarely tough, I chooses books based on the author, story line, or even the title. Reading is a hobby of mine. The recent one I finished is of Madhavi Kutty�s Vakkeelammavan. Photography is also on my list. Dad bought me a DSLR, when I was doing my short film. I am slowly learning to operate it better. Chances are that you may even come across a photography page of mine in facebook soon.� 

An actress you resemble: Some say it�s Sonakshi Sinha. Some say Monisha. 

�The way you carry yourself is actually the first and best thing to be considered. You should not be over conscious of your dressing. Nor you should be least bothered. Sonam Kapoor and Aiswarya Rai Bachan are the best examples of carrying themselves as the best. Size is never a determinant in fashion. You always have better options around if you can�t find a particular dress of your size. If you want a dress that badly, and your size is an obstacle, get the same stitched. Problem solved.� Shalin hits when asked about her fashion concepts. �1 am a bit brand conscious. But that too only about some accessories-like shades. Because they speak language of comfortability, and assures quality. 1 have a pretty good collection of shades. I collect them, of all brands, but I use the same all around. Then I have a collection of both spiritual and literature books. �My wardrobe is actually pretty big, because my mother loves shopping for me. To the contrary, I hate shopping. I never go stubborn or crazy for a particular dress in the showcase�.�My favorites are always free styled casuals. Because, first place forever goes to comfort. Kurtis are my most liked casual. I don�t have a particular cloth to snatch as my favorite. If I fall in love with a particular dress, I will keep on wearing till it gets into my bored-to-wear-list. I shop only rarely. And then even if I shop, I always keep things within a moderate budget, except for things that will make me go madly upon them, nevertheless that happens rarely. I am not a fashion freak, actually. I never go behind updates or fashion stuffs, damn the time it hits the market. I never wait to get the revised dress sense of some one, nor am I eager to follow that. I create my postures. I make my show. And I believe in creating a way which may not be standingout of the box, but will surely suit me the best. � 

One thing out of the fame : I am afraid of riding scooters. 

Shalin�s wardrobe had so much of black coloured outfits and shirts. But her favorite was a 3 / 4th parallels. �Parallels always make me fall down. Because usually they are either too long, or too short for me. But this one is in perfect size.� �Light shades are the colour that I prefer more. I always borrow stuffs from my mom�s wardrobe. They are the ones that will fit me loose.� �I am least confident of my body size. Maybe I should have eaten less food. But in our industry, actresses are usually not so worried about their size. They are only concerned about being in shape. At the same time, Bollywood actresses are very much aware of body fitness and sizes.� \X'hen the yellow shore was more softened by the tides, she stood up, smiling. With the breeze that hit her face and swept her hair, all the rumors and harsh stories that were hovering around here vanished slowly into this air.
