Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888 and started his career as a philosophy teacher in 1909 by entering the teaching profession at Presidency College, Chennai.
He has taught philosophy in many famous Universities like Benaras, Chennai, Kolkata, Mysore and overseas universities like Oxford in London. Due to his devotion to the teaching profession, he was appointed as Chairman of the University Scholarship Commission in 1949 for his valuable service. From 1962 onwards, Teachers began to commemorate September 5. He died on April 17, 1975 after serving the country for a long time with his great work.
