Spooky spiders

Halloween decoration spiders

We've posted about the fun yard art at this house before (Sunsets and yard art and His bark is worse than his bite...), but we've never seen it this time of year. It turns out that this family really does it up for Halloween. It's spooky enough during the day. I can't wait to see it on Halloween night.

Avast ye!

Pirate ship

On a walk the other day, I discovered this pirate ship. I don't know if it's there just for the Halloween season, or if it's a permanent addition to the neighborhood. But in any case, I can't stop thinking of piratesand Johnny Depp.

Young love

Kids statues

Was she trying to do some schoolwork when he offered her some flowers? In any case, she seems to welcome the interruption.

"I know we're too young and it's still early to say this...but I hope you're the one."

Like magic

IMG_3404-1

The first thing I noticed about this house was the interesting metallic flowers scattered around the yard. Then I happened to notice the unique flower baskets on the trunk of the palm tree.

It wasn't until I noticed the baskets way, way up one of the palm trees that it occurred to me to wonder, how do they water these baskets? And it wasn't until I had the chance to examine the photos more closely that, like magic tricks seen up close, the wires (and tubes) that make the trick possible became apparent.

I'm watching you!

As I snapped this picture of this very fun conglomeration of yard art, I noticed the neighborhood watch sign. I appreciate neighbors who look out for others. It is all about safe and secure neighborhoods. This home appears to be doubly protected; by both this serene cat and very observant-looking dwarf out front and center.

Fire Dept #40

Fire Dept yard art

A member of Fire Dept #40 is on guard herewhether he's ready to put out fires or just preventing water waste during our drought, I'm not sure.

Mountain retreat?

Country decor

It was hot today, but this front yard reminded me so much of a mountain cabin that I automatically felt 10 degrees cooler. The chair, in the dappled sunlight surrounded by flowers and rustic decorations, looked like the perfect place to take a break.

Egg-cited about Easter

Easter yard art

The family at this house decorates for every season, so it's always fun to go by and see the current decor. For this Easter, there are lots of pastels and eggs.

"Easter is the only time of year when it's perfectly safe to put all your eggs in one basket."
